Confirmation Statement Replaces Annual Return

Confirmation Statement Replaces Annual Return

3From 30th June 2016 the Annual Return is no more; it’s been replaced by the Confirmation Statement.

The Annual Return was always confusing with many muddling it up with the Annual Accounts.  The two things are very different but hopefully the confusion will disappear with the new Confirmation Statement.

Frequency

At least once a year a company will need to review the information held by Companies House and confirm that it is correct.

If the information isn’t correct, you’ll be able to update it at the time of making the Statement by using the correct Companies House form.

You’ll be able to do this on-line.  The fee of £13.00 will still apply and you’ll need to pay this on completion of the Confirmation Statement.

What Needs To Be Confirmed?

To complete the Confirmation Statement you will need to confirm that the following details are correct:

  • Registered office
  • Directors
  • Location of registers
  • Shareholders
  • Capital
  • SIC (standard industry classification) Code

As part of the first Confirmation Statement the register of People with Significant Control (PSC) will need to be completed.

Warning

You may find companies on the internet who want to charge you more than £13.00 for the Confirmation Statement.  Of course, that’s fine, but remember you can easily do this yourself for £13.00 at the Companies House website and save yourself some money.
